A Nurturing Start to Learning
In the Early Years at Assisi Catholic College, we support each child’s unique spiritual, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Our aim is to foster a love of learning—encouraging creativity, curiosity, imagination, confidence, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset, while developing skills that can be applied in real-world settings.
Foundations for Literacy and Numeracy
We build on each child’s prior knowledge and experiences to establish strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. Learning takes place through meaningful and engaging contexts, including play-based exploration, investigations, explicit teaching, and the development of routines and transitions that support success in a school environment.
Habits and Values in Action
Our Habits and Values—Being Prepared, Being Persistent, Being Your Own Person, Being Respectful, and Being Responsible—are woven into all aspects of learning and play. These guide our behaviours and help our youngest learners grow into confident, capable individuals.
Relationships at the Heart
Central to our Franciscan identity is a strong emphasis on relationships and family. Our Early Years community models how we can love and care for all creation. Guided by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our students are encouraged to contribute to a more compassionate and connected world.
