Assisi Catholic College Futsal Excellence Program
Since 2010, Assisi Catholic College has offered a High-Performance Program in the sport of Futsal (5-a-side Court Soccer). The Program is coordinated by the school's Director of Futsal, Paul McKarzel, who has played and coached in the State, National and International arena and taught Futsal in the Queensland School System for over 25 years. Assisi Catholic College has a proud record of success over the last 5 years with over 40 Regional, State and National Championships won and many graduates now playing and working in the Sports Industry. The Futsal program runs in the Junior, Middle and Senior Years with a curriculum class in every year from Years 5-12. Students will train on a weekly basis and play in Local, Regional, State and National Competitions. The program also offers units of work in Coaching, Refereeing, Injury Prevention and Management, Sports Psychology and use of IT in Sport. In order to undertake study in this program, students must apply for a position in a class, with successful applicants subsequently undertaking a series of trials. If successful, the student studies Futsal during the time that Elective Subjects are studied.
